Educational Music Therapy
Primary Music Therapy sessions are provided by a therapist with both music therapy and teaching registrations. Primary Music Therapists have extensive experience in working with young people experiencing difficulties due to injury, illness, disability or other challenges. Educational sessions engage the young person in fun and personalised music based activities to suit their individual preferences and musical interests. Goals for sessions are created to meet the learning, health and developmental needs of the young person. What happens in a Primary Music Therapy session? Your Primary Music Therapist will work with you to create goals for you and your child. Goals can include social, emotional, physical, educational, or personal areas that you wish to develop or improve through a music therapy program. Music based methods that may be used include: *Song writing *Music making *Improvisation *Music relaxation *Listening to live or recorded music *Singing and playing instruments
Your Music Therapist will travel to your home and will provide a variety of instruments, equipment and resources to use during the sessions.
